Ranger Families,

There have been some changes to our attendance policy that we want you to be aware of.

DOCUMENTATION AFTER AN ABSENCE (All Grade Levels)
A parent must provide an explanation for any absence within three days of returning to school. The student must submit a note signed by the parent. The campus will document in its attendance records whether the absence is excused or unexcused.

Note: Unless the absence is for a statutorily allowed reason under compulsory attendance
laws, the district is not required to excuse any absence, even if the parent provides a note
explaining the absence. The district will excuse up to five days per semester with a parent
note. Any absence with a parent note after the fifth absence will be considered unexcused.

A parent note will excuse an absence up to 3 consecutive days.

DOCTOR’S NOTE AFTER AN ABSENCE FOR ILLNESS (ALL GRADE LEVELS)
Within 3 days of returning to school, a student absent for more than 3 consecutive days
because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying
the illness or condition that caused the absence. Otherwise, the absence may be considered
unexcused and in violation of compulsory attendance laws.

Should the student develop a questionable pattern of absences, the principal or attendance
committee may require a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or
condition that caused the absence to determine whether an absence will be excused or
unexcused.

CERTIFICATION OF ABSENCE DUE TO SEVERE ILLNESS OR TREATMENT
If a student is absent because of a serious or life-threatening illness or related treatment
that makes a student’s attendance infeasible, a parent must provide certification from a
physician licensed to practice in Texas specifying the student’s illness and the anticipated
period of absence related to the illness or treatment on the district’s form. A parent may
access the required form from their student’s home campus.

School of Choice and Out of District students must remain in good standing regarding attendance.

For more information please visit: https://www.judsonisd.org/o/jisd/page/attendance-policies

Thank you,

Ms. Allen

Ranger Families,

To help ensure a safe and efficient dismissal process, please have your Car Rider tag clearly visible during pick-up. If you do not currently have a Car Rider tag, please stop by the front office, and we will be happy to issue one for you.

Beginning Monday, all vehicles picking up students must display a Car Rider tag.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us keep our students safe! 💙🧡

Ranger Families,

This is an update on the fire alarm. Thank you so much for being patient during our dismissal evacuation. The building has been cleared by the fire department. It was determined that the fire alarm was activated due to the roof work being conducted but all is safe and we a look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Our staff and students did an amazing job!
25 days ago, Salinas Elementary
Ranger families, The fire alarm started going off at dismissal. We have safely evacuated the building and all students are safe and accounted for. We are waiting for the fire department to come clear us. We will resume dismissal at that time.

Parents/Guardians,

Please look at the walker map so you know where to wait for your walker. We have two groups walking different directions. Due to safety concerns, parents are not allowed to wait under the school awnings and take students out of the walker line. Staff will dismiss students at the trees by the front entrance (for students walking towards the Spring Wood neighborhood) and at the intersection by the back drive entrance (for students walking towards Kitty Hawk). Also, please make sure you sign up your walker using the QR code below. Walkers must be signed up by this Friday to continue to walk home.

Thank you, for your cooperation,
Salinas Staff

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE:

Hello Salinas Ranger Parents/Guardians,

As we welcome back our students for this upcoming school year, I would like to
notify you of a change that will be implemented for clinic visit notification. When
your child is released back to class from the clinic, you will receive an email
notification to your primary contact email stating that your child was seen in the
clinic. This notification will go out for all clinic visits, even minor reasons such as a
lost tooth, nosebleed, potty accident, splinter, minor injury, etc.

Please know that once clinic staff assesses your child, we will still notify via phone
call for anything requiring direct parent contact – such as head injuries, bruising,
second visits for stomachache or headache, signs of contagious illness,
altercations, urgent matters, etc.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. I
appreciate your attention to this matter.

Respectfully,
Bethani Amador, RN

Dear Parents and Families,

We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow!

To help make arrival as smooth as possible, please keep the following information in mind:

-Parents are welcome to walk their students to class for the first three days of school until 7:30 AM.
-Due to ongoing roofing construction, approximately half of the back parking lot is blocked off, so parking will be limited.
-Student drop-off begins at 6:50 AM this year.
-The side gate will close at 7:25 AM but the front drop off lane will remain open until 7:30 AM.
-We will not count tardies during the first three days of school as everyone adjusts to the new routines.
-Please be patient and allow extra time in the morning. Limited parking and increased traffic will likely make drop-off a little slower than usual during the first few days.
-Our drop off and pick up maps are attached to this email/post

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and partnership as we start a wonderful new school year. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Have a great first day! 🍎📚

Warm regards,
Michelle Allen
